Louisiana Speech-Language Pathologist License Reciprocity Process

Louisiana issues licenses to those with the credential in another state. The following are the requirements for the license reciprocity process in Louisiana:

  • The state in which you obtained the initial license has requirements equivalent to the requirements in Louisiana for SLP licensure
  • The initial state of licensure extends a similar privilege of license by reciprocity to Louisiana license holders
  • The initial state of issuance requires a passing score on an exam as a condition of licensure
  • A copy of your license from the issuing state

The Board also has the discretion to waive examination requirements and documentation of clinical practicums if the applicant holds a CCC issued by ASHA. When applying for the license by reciprocity online, you may also submit an application for a provisional license so you can practice and the state as you wait for the Board’s approval.
