District of Columbia Speech-Language Pathologist License Reciprocity Process

License by reciprocity is often referred to as the endorsement process. In Washington D.C. SLPs with valid, unencumbered licenses in another state can become licensed without retaking the national exam. You can begin the application process online.

Here is the list of items needed to complete the endorsement process:

  • A complete signed application for DC License
  • Two recent passport photos
  • Social Security Number or Sworn Affidavit
  • Copy of government-issued identification
  • Name change documents if applicable
  • Official school transcript(s)
  • Letter of Verification from each state of licensure
  • Proof of ASHA Certification
  • Criminal Background Check
  • $264 application and license Fee

The Board will process the application once all documentation is received and send your license via email.
