Colorado Speech-Language Pathologist License Reciprocity Process

Licensure by reciprocity, or endorsement as it’s called in Colorado, is a pathway that allows you to become licensed in the state if you already hold an SLP license in a different state. The endorsement process makes it convenient for licensed professionals to transfer their credentials and begin working should they relocate their residence.

The qualifications for licensure by endorsement are as follows:

  • Hold a valid SLP license in good standing in another state or jurisdiction
  • Provide proof of licensure from all states or jurisdictions in which you’re licensed
  • Have practiced as an SLP for a minimum of 400 hours in 12 months immediately preceding the application submission; or
    • Complete 48 hours of CE two years preceding the application submission; or
    • Hold a CCC issued by ASHA

The application process takes 2-3 weeks on average to complete. You will then receive an email as to the Department’s decision or can check the status online.
