Arizona Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License Renewal Procedure

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) licenses are valid for two years and are only renewed once continuing education (CE) requirements have been satisfied and the $200 renewal fee paid. Renewals are an online process and paper documents are no longer accepted.

SLPAs must obtain 10 hours of CE hours in speech-language pathology each year of the renewal period for a total of twenty hours. Any training courses attended have to be instructed by a licensed SLP and cover current developments in the field, and the content should surpass an introductory level of SLP knowledge.

Courses are to include advancements made in the following areas:

  • Auditory rehabilitation
  • Ethics or federal and state rules and statutes
  • Practice of speech-language pathology

Keep all certificates proving you’ve completed the CE requirements, although you only have to attest to them on the renewal application. If you are randomly audited by the Department, they will ask you to submit these documents to verify your CE experience. Not having them readily available can result in a revocation of your license.
