Tennessee Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License Renewal Procedure

The registration for an SLPA is valid for two years. You can do renewal online or have a renewal application form sent to you by mail to the last address provided to the Board. It’s important to remember that failure to receive the notification does not exempt the registrant from meeting the renewal requirements.

The following items must be submitted to the Board’s Administrative Office on or before the renewal due date to be eligible for license or registration renewal:

  • A completed Renewal Application form
  • The renewal and state regulatory fees of $25 (follow renewal rules or notifications about timely renewal to avoid paying a late renewal fee of $25)
  • Attestation on the Renewal Application form to indicate and certify the fulfillment of continuing education requirements.

To maintain registration, all SLPAs must complete at least five hours of continuing education each year. For new registrants in Tennessee, completing the education and training requirements within the 12 months before registration counts towards their initial continuing education credit.

In addition, if you have no intention of practicing, you may ask to change your active registration to an Inactive-Retired status. Once a registrant’s status is retired, they cannot practice and are not obligated to pay the renewal fee.
