South Carolina Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certification Renewal Procedure

An SLPA license needs to be renewed biennially, and the renewal deadline is on March 31st of the second year. To renew South Carolina speech-language pathology assistant licensure, you must:

  • Submit payment for the renewal fee as stated in the preceding paragraph.
  • Provide proof of meeting the continuing education requirements.

If a renewal application for a license is received by March 31st, the license becomes valid. To renew your license, you must submit a renewal application before May 1st with the biennial license fee. However, if the renewal request is postmarked after May 1st, the license can only be reinstated by submitting an application for licensure that meets the requirements at the time of submission, along with the biennial license fee and reinstatement fee.

In addition, to renew your license, you must complete eight hours of approved continuing education during each license period, as required by the Board’s regulations. You must report the continuing education on the specified forms within the time frame specified by the Board. You must keep a record of your continuing education hours earned for four years.
