In Missouri, and SLP license is valid for two years. Your initial license may be valid for less time, however, because everyone’s license expires on January 31 of each odd-numbered year. Fortunately, the process is relatively straightforward.
During the renewal cycle, each SLP license holder will receive an email and postcard. These will indicate your license is up for renewal, and provide login access to the online portal. For that reason, we don’t have a copy of the renewal form. However, the cost is $50.
Naturally, there’s more to the renewal than just filling out a form and paying the fee. Like all other states, Missouri has a continuing education requirement. To renew your license, you’ll need to accumulate 30 clock hours of continuing education activities. These must meet specific requirements, such as being offered by recognized nonprofits in the field or being university-level coursework. You can choose some other activities for up to 10 hours if you want. Also, any clinical fellowship counts as your continuing education.
As part of the renewal form, you will have to attest that you have completed your continuing education or request an extension for exceptional circumstances like ill health. You’re also required to keep your certificates of completion, transcripts, and other evidence of compliance for several years. This way, you can prove your compliance if audited.
