Maryland Speech-Language Pathologist License Reciprocity Process

If you currently hold a non-expired SLP license in a jurisdiction other than Maryland, you may apply for licensure within the state by reciprocity. The process doesn’t require you to retake exams for licensure if the state of origin has equivalent requirements for SLP licenses.

Simply upload the application online along with these items:

  • Passport-sized photo
  • Background Check Privacy Rights Form
  • Completed Background Check
  • Official transcripts
  • Verification of CFY
  • ASHA verification
  • Praxis exam results
  • Current resume
  • A copy of an affidavit from the state that issued your SLP license

Once the board has this information they will process your application and issue a license if all requirements have been met. This process takes three to five business days.
