Maine Speech-Language Pathologist License Renewal Procedure

License renewals are submitted online and due by February 28th each year. The board will send a notification to you via e-mail 90 days before the license expires. In order to renew a temporary license, submit the following items at least one month before its expiration date:

  • Written request for renewal
  • Supervisory Plan signed by an eligible supervisor
  • Completed Supervision Form
  • $50 license fee

Before renewing your permanent license, a 10-hour minimum of continuing education must be met. If the board requires additional information besides what is normally asked for, you have 90 days after receiving the notification to submit the information. If you do not, your application may be denied.

Along with the $50 renewal fee, you need to submit a Continuing Education Documentation Form. Include your license number and the dates, names, and locations of the activities completed to earn the CE hours.

One hour of your CE time must be spent on Ethics, and a minimum of two hours is needed to meet supervision requirements. At least six hours of the activities should be “live” CE hours, while the remaining time can be obtained through remote learning.

The Maine Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSLHA) holds a convention each year that provides you the opportunity to meet the “live” CE hour requirement. The organization posts link to other accepted “live” activities on its Facebook page.
