Iowa Speech-Language Pathologist License Reciprocity Process

Iowa is a member of the Audio Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact (ASLP-IC) Commission. Members have entered an agreement by which SLPs can become authorized to practice in states they are not currently licensed. Licensees can simply apply for compact privilege in the state they wish to practice by using the license issued by their home state.

The process is the same as receiving a license by endorsement. Anyone licensed in a U.S. state, territory, province, foreign country, or the District of Columbia, can be approved for licensure by the Board. Send in the following information through the website:

  • Completed application
  • $120 application fee
  • Verification of each professional license you hold is sent directly to the Board from the issuing jurisdiction.
  • Proof of ASHA certification

The Board will process your application, and a license will be issued to you within five business days.
